Kites of all colors, shapes and sizes filled the sky on April 28, as residents poured from their homes to get out in the sun and fly a kite in the wind. Kids were able to make and decorate their own kit. Demonstrations were held by the Sky Pilots Kite Club. Kite contests for Most Colorful, Funniest, Most Imaginative, Highest Flying and Best Overall were also held. The day offered something for everyone. The Lehigh Valley Zoo showcased their birds of prey, K & B Express Stables gave pony rides, the Berks County Amateur Astronomy Society offered solar demonstrations, the Da Vinci Science Center offered hands on experience of ‘Science on the Move’ and Bloomin Ballons gave tethered hot air balloon demonstrations. The Berks County Parks and Recreation sponsored the ‘Go Fly a Kite Day,’ which was held at the Berks CountyYouth Recreation Facility, in Bern Township.
