Due to bad weather and repairs that need to be made, Kutztown Pool will not be opening until the weekend of June 1.
According toBorough Secretary Gina Wiand, there were a lot of repairs at the pool during the off-season
“The extra week will help to accommodate that,” she said.
Repairs at the pool will delay its opening by a week.
Since good weather has been scarce during the past couple of months, the repairs have only just started as of April 30 and on May 1 contractors began lifting up the coping in the big pool.
The repairs include re-plastering the baby pool and replacing some of the tiles that have come off in the bigger pool.
Brian Bailey, the Supervisor of the borough’s public works office, hopes to have the repairs finished at least a week before the pool re-opens but said they could be working up until the day before it opens if the weather does not stay nice.
The intermediate pool is also in need of repairs, but the borough does not plan on making those repairs until after the season ends in September.
