Kutztown High senior Kayla Fusselman accepted a scholarship from Haldeman Ford in Kutztown on April 30.The $1,000 scholarship was through the National FFA Organization, with Ford as the sponsor.
Ford has been building tough trucks that move and service America since 1908. 2013 marks the 65th year of FFA support by Ford Trucks, Ford Motor Company Fund and participating Ford Truck dealers. 2012 marks the 35th year as bestselling truck for F-Series. Ford is the largest corporate sponsor of scholarships in the National FFA scholarship program. Since 1997, Ford has awarded more than $7,100,000 in scholarships to FFA members.
Kayla is a member of National Honor Society, Tri-M Music Honor Society, and the National Society of High School Scholars. She is also the president of the Kutztown FFA Chapter, Kutztown Leo Club, Kutztown High Student Council, Book Club, and Horticulture Club. Kayla is also very involved in volunteering in and out of her school and church and an active member of her school’s Apple Corps Team.
Fusselman, being the president of the Kutztown FFA, is very active in her chapter. Kayla competes at local fairs, the Pennsylvania Farm Show, and in Floriculture. In June Kayla will be going to state competition with her team mates to hopefully qualify for National Competition for Floriculture.
Kayla’s college plans include going to Kutztown University this upcoming fall for art education to one day be an art teacher.
