Boyertown Sr. Legion Bears
The Boyertown Sr. American Legion Bears began the week with a 4-0 victory over Twin Valley. Dan Woodley and Brandon Griesemer combined to pitch a two-hit shutout to lead the Bears to the victory. Woodley pitched five innings, fanning six batters.
The Bears scored three runs in the third and added one more in the fourth. They had just four hits in the game, including a RBI triple by Zach Moser. Griesemer contributed with a two-run single.
In a non-league game, the Bears defeated Hatfield, 9-6. Austin Madeja had three hits to lead the Boyertown offense. Brett Moyer was the winning pitcher, allowing two runs on four hits.
On June 4, the Bears scored two runs in the top of the seventh to pull out a 5-4 victory over West Lawn. The Bears plated three runs in the top of the fifth to take a 4-2 lead, but the Owls came right back with three runs of their own in the bottom of the inning.
Cory Fox had two singles and a double in the game while Daulton Hughes added a pair of hits.
On June 5, the Bears got a run in the top of the seventh without the benefit of a hit which gave them a 3-2 victory over Shillington.
Brandon Griesemer was the winning pitcher, allowing four hits and fanning four.
Oley/Topton Sr. Legion Patriots
The Oley/Topton Patriots are off to a good start winning four of five games.
On Sunday, June 9, the Patriots blanked Kutztown, 18-0. After scoring four in the first inning, The Patriots plated 11 in the second and three in the third. The game was called after 4 1/2 innings due to the mercy rule.
Luke Erb led the Oley/Topton offense with two hits (single and double), three RBIs and three runs scored, while Nick Distasio added two hits, two RBIs and two runs scored. Bryce Galzcynski also had two hits, two RBIs and two runs scored while Zach Eddinger and D. Mace each had two hits and two runs scored.
Garrett Pelko was the winning pitcher, allowing no runs on two hits and two walks while fanning nine in five innings.
On June 8, the Patriots scored three in the fifth, and two each in the sixth and seventh as they defeated Pottsville, 8-0.
Eddinger pitched six scoreless innings to pick up the win, allwoing four hits and five walks while fanning nine. J. Troutman pitched the seventh.
Eddinger helped his own cause with two hits, two runs scored and three RBIs, while A. Murr had four hits and one run scored. Kevin Sell chipped in with two hits and one RBI and Distasio singled and drove in two.
The Oley/Topton Patriots ran into some good pitching on June 4 when they lost to Fleetwood, 3-0. Clay Weidemoyer shutout the Patriots on four hits.
Fleetwood scored one in the first and two more insurance runs in the fourth.
Nick Distasio was the hard-luck losing pitcher for Oley/Topton, allowing no earned runs on five hits and one walk in six innings of work. He struckout nine batters.
Oley/Topton left 12 runners on base in the game. M. Fisher had two of the Patriotsí four hits in the game.
On June 1, the Patriots downed Muhlenberg, 4-2. Garret Pelko was the winning pitcher for Oley/Topton, allowing two earned runs on two hits and three walks in five innings.
Zach Eddinger pitched two innings to pick up the save.
Later that same day, the Patriots crushed Schuylkill Valley (Schuylkill County), 14-4. The game was called after five innings due to the mercy rule.
Luke Erb was the winning pither, hurling a complete game, fanning nine batters.
Kevin Sell had two hits and five RBIs to lead the Oley/Topton offense, while Bryce Galzynski added two hits and four runs scored. Distasio added a pair of doubles.
The Oley/Topton 16U team used a two-run top of the ninth inning to defeated Berks Blaze, 7-5.
Zach Tiongston led the Oley/Topton offense with three hits in the game.
Boyertown Jr. Legion Grizzlies
The Boyertown Jr. Legion Grizzlies opened the week with a 2-0 loss to Upper Perkiomen. Andrew Bauer was the hard luck losing pitcher, fanning eight batters.
On June 2 the Grizzlies handled Exeter, 10-0. Pat Hohlfield hurled a five-inning no-hitter to lead the Grizzlies to the victory.
Dan Moyer, Jacob Dicesare and David Terry each knocked in two runs and Jerry Kapp contributed with two hits and one RBI.
The next night the Grizzlies defeated Spring City, 6-4. Ryan Weller led the way for Boyertown with two doubles and three RBIs. Dan Moyer chipped in with two hits and one RBI and J.T. Cooley added a hit and two runs scored.
Terry was the winning pitcher for the Grizzlies.
On June 5, the Grizzlies fell to Upper Perk, 7-4. Ryan Weller had three hits to lead the locals.
Boyertown Jr. Legion Bear-Cubs
The Boyertown Jr. Legion Bear-Cubs began the week with a convincing 10-0 victory over Pottsville. Ben Longacre was the winning pitcher, hurling five-inning one-hitter for the Cubs. He walked two and fanned eight.
Longacre helped himself with the bat with two hits in the game. Ryan Jacobs doubled and drove in three runs.
On June 2, the Bear-Cubs cruised by Conestoga, 12-2. The Bear-Cubs were led by Jacobs who a single, two doubles and two RBIs.
Seth Endy and Tyler Mraz each had two hits and one RBI and Aaron Kratz added a pair of hits. Boyertown also got doubles from Anthony Rota, Tommy Randall and Jordan Shustack.
On June 3, Shustack pitched a two-hit shutout with 11 strikeouts to lead the Bear-Cubs to a 3-0 victory over Oley/Topton.
Shustack had another good night with the bat, getting two hits and one RBIs. Jacobs also had two hits while Mitch Pinder, Patrick Maloney and Seth Endy all had one hit.
On June 5 the Bear-Cubs had no trouble with Muhlenberg, winning the game, 14-0. Mitch Pinder pitched a one-hit shutout for the Bear-Cubs, fanning six batters in four innings.
Ben Longacre had two hits and four RBIs while Seth Endy added three hits and one RBI and Aaron Krtz contributed two hits and three RBIs.
The Gabelsville Owls of the Tri-County Adult Baseball League defeated innerFury Athletics, 13-1. Tim Wiand had four hits, three runs scored and two RBIs to lead the Gabelsville offense.
Cody Kulp had a home run and four RBIs and Dan Pierce had two hits and two runs scored.
Winning pitcher Matt Dean had 11 strikeouts and allowed just four hits.
On June 2, the Owls, behind the four-hit shutout pitching of Justin Konnick, defeated Cetronia, 12-0.
Cody Kulp had two hits and three RBIs and A.J. Bohn added two hits and two RBIs. Dave Raifsnider chipped in with two hits and one RBI.
On June 5, Gabelsville was shutout by the Northern Yankees, 4-3. Rob Patete had two hits for the Owls and Dave Raifsnider drove in two runs.
Boyertown Sr. Babe Ruth Bruins
In a battle of Boyertown Sr. Babe Ruth teams, Boyertown Black defeated Boyertown White, 6-0. Ryan Pinter pitched a two-hit shutout for Boyertown White, fanning 10 batters.
Eric Crowe had a sacrifice fly and a RBI triple to lead the Boyertown White offense.
Thanks in part to five hits from Andrew Vaccaro, th Boyertown Bruins Black crushed NorChester Yellow, 15-0. Vaccaro knocked in four runs and scored three times.
Zach Bechtel and Ryan Piner each had two hits and two runs scored. Mark Smith was the winning pitcher, hurling a two-hit shutout with six strikeouts.
On June 6, Boyertown Babe Ruth Black defeated Spring-Ford Gold, 13-1. Eric Crowe led the Boyertown offense with three hits including a double and three RBIs. Mark Smith also had three RBIs and scored twice.
Zach Bechtel chipped in with two hits and two RBIs while Cory Postell and Ryan Pinter each had RBI doubles.
Pinter was the winning pitcher, allowing just three hits in a complete game victory. He struckout 12 Spring-Ford Gold batters.
Pine Forge Sr. Babe Ruth
The Pine Forge Sr. Babe Ruth Red team had no trouble getting by Twin Valley, 14-1. The game was called after five innings due to the mercy rule.
Chris Reigner led the Pine Forge offense with a single, triple and three RBIs, while Craig Eidle had a single, double and three RBIs.
Austin Heimbach chipped in with two hits and two RBIs and Joey Monzo and Tyler Emel each had a double and two RBIs.
Alex Cartacki was the winning pitcher.
Pine Forge Red defeated Upper Perkiomen on June 5, 12-0. Monzo had three doubles and three runs scored for the Red, while Reigner had two had and three RBIs and Craig Idle added two hits and three RBIs. Brandon Casper had two hits, two runs scored and one RBI.
Brent Dieter was the winning pitcher, hurling three innings and allowing two hits.
On June 5, the Indians improved to 5-0 with an 11-2 win over Boyertown Red. Pine Forge took advantage of 12 walks while Joey Monzo had a hits, three runs scored and two RBIs that came on a two-run double in the fifth. Alex Cartacki drove in a pair of runs on a single in the second inning.
