RUSCOMBMANOR – A Fleetwood teen was killed when he fell off the bumper of a moving Jeep in Ruscombmanor June 4 and hit his head, according to state police at the Reading barracks.
Gregory Allen Hilbert Jr., 16, a junior at Oley Valley High School, was riding on the bumper of the vehicle driven by a 17-year-old male in the first block of Augusta Lane around 8:07 p.m. when he fell and hit his head, police said. The Jeep was carrying three juveniles at the time of the accident, police said.
EMS were called to the scene and transported Hilbert to Reading Hospital and Medical Center where he died, police said.
Police are investigating the incident. No charges have been filed.
Hilbert was the son of Gregory A. Hilbert, Sr. and Victoria L. (Lazowicki) Hilbert.
According to the obituary, music was his life and playing the guitar his passion. At Oley Valley High School he was known as the school’s resident guitarist, for he would always have his guitar and play when ever possible. He loved to play guitar, bass, drums and write his own music.
‘He was a very loving and caring person who was concerned about the world and why people could not live in peace. Greg loved being outdoors and going on nature walks. Eating healthy was a major part of his life and would lecture friends and family on eating the healthiest foods,’ reads his obit.
He is survived by his parents and brothers Nikolas A. Hilbert at home and Joshua Hilbert of Wilmington, Del. Also maternal grandparents John A. and Kristine (Poust) Lazowicki of Inverness, Fla., and paternal grandparents Ernest and Barbara (Greiss) Hilbert of Bechtelsville and maternal great grandmother Helen Poust.
Funeral services were June 11 at 2 p.m. from New Bethel Church, Kempton.
