Jessica Duncan was crowned the 2013-14 Berks County Dairy Princess at the Mohrsville Church of the Brethren recently.

This coming year, Jessica will be traveling around Berks County promoting the Dairy Industry and the healthy benefits of eating dairy products. She was crowned by the outgoing Princess, Kayci Johns. She will have help promoting with Danica Rhoads who will serve as the Berks County Li’l Miss Dairy Princess. Danica was crowned by outgoing Li’l Miss Brooke Bicksler.

Jessica is the 16, year old daughter of Donald and Loretta Duncan of Ardounie Farm in Robesonia. Jessica is no new comer to promoting as she served as Berks Co. Li’l Miss Dairy Princess in 2003 and has also served as a Dairy Ambassador. She is a member of the Western Berks 4-H Dairy Club. This coming year Jessica will be a senior at Conrad Weiser High School. In school she is active in the Ski Club, Students Against Drunk Driving and is president of the JCL. She also plays on the varsity Lacrosse and Field Hockey teams.

Danica is the 4 year old daughter of Darren and Sandy Rhoads of Barto. She is currently attending a Pre-K program at the King’s Academy. Danica enjoys helping her dad haul cattle and in the summer, Danica likes to attend the fairs.

During the pageant, Jessica had to answer an impromptu question from the judges. Their question to her was, ‘What is the biggest issue facing the dairy industry today?’ Jessica’s response was that the public doesn’t realize how important the dairy industry is to them.

She also had to perform a skit or a speech. Jessica decided to entertain the crowd with a skit where she talked about the many ‘hats’ a dairy farmer has to wear.

During the pageant, the committee recognized the dairy promotion team from the past year: Kayci Johns, Berks County Dairy Princess, Brooke Bicksler, Li’l Miss Dairy Princess and Dairy Ambassadors – Claire Connor, Brittany Haag, Samantha Haag, Maddie Knepp, Morgan Krick, Taylor Pool, Ashley Mohn, Kerissa Rohrbach, Jenna Sattazahn, Ashley Seifert, Morgan Stump and Lindsey Zimmerman.

Judges for the pageant were: Suzanne Meck and Briana Shealer; Emcee was Raechel Sattazahn
