Greetings from the new editor

Wednesday, June 26, 2013

To our readers,
I would like to take the time to introduce myself as the new editor of the Tri County Record. My name is Matthew D’Ippolito and I am very excited to get to know our readership and learn about the communities that the Tri County Record serves.
I love journalism for two reasons. First, I’ve always enjoyed the art of storytelling. Keeping an audience enticed with an exciting story is a lot of fun. Second, and more importantly, journalism provides an opportunity to keep readers informed about what matters most to us. Local papers fill this important need in communities across the country – keeping people abreast of everything happening locally in our daily lives.
My passion for writing and staying informed is what drove me to study journalism at Penn State. My journalism experience at school was varied. I wrote for The Daily Collegian, Onward State, and Penn State Public Broadcasting. After graduating in May of 2012 I worked for the Town & Country in Pennsburg designing advertisements, copy editing and covering local government and sports stories. I worked with the Town and Country for a year before taking the editor’s position here at the Record.
Outside of my career, my interests include reading a good book, camping and music. I listen to a wide range of music but some of my favorite genres include rock, jazz and alternative. My love of music is not just limited to listening – I also play the saxophone.
My introduction to the Tri-County area has shown me the beautiful landscape and fascinating culture, and I can’t wait to learn more about this region as we continue to produce engaging, informative content for our readers.
I also want to keep the community as involved as possible in the content of this paper. After all, this newspaper is yours; it is a reflection of its community and is produced for its readers. So if you have any questions, comments, concerns or suggestions, or if you would like to submit content for the Record, then feel free to contact me at editor@tricountyrecord.com. I am interested in hearing your feedback and ideas.
I look forward to working with this community as I write about the many amazing people and events here.
Thank you.
