Nine suspects from Fleetwood, Blandon, Shillington and Reading were arrested this morning on drug charges. Ricky Cortez, 29, Reading, surrendered this afternoon at the District Attorney’s Office and was accompanied by his attorney. He is currently being processed and awaiting arraignment on charges of Possession/PWI/Delivery of Cocaine.
Berks County District Attorney’s Drug Task Force Detectives and State Police conducted an early morning drug round-up of 15 drug dealers from Berks County. “This was an investigation that was county wide,” Berks County District Attorney John T. Adams said, “There is a problem with drugs in all communities...We’re doing everything possible to keep our county safe.”
All 15 defendants were wanted for various violations of the Controlled Substance Act of Pennsylvania, specifically delivery of controlled substances, which included cocaine, heroin, LSD and Marijuana, according to a District Attorney’s Office release.
The District Attorney’s Drug Task Force and the State Police jointly investigated the defendants selling cocaine, heroin, LSD and Marijuana in various locations throughout Berks County. During the nine-month investigation, undercover detectives purchased controlled substances with values ranging from $20 to $1,000.
Task force members from the District Attorney’s Narcotics Unit, State Police, Reading Police, Berks County Sheriff’s Department and Exeter Police participated in this early morning raid.
“Today’s round-up is an example of our relentless commitment to eliminate all levels of narcotics and dangerous drug traffickers in Berks County,” said Adams in a release.
So far, nine defendants were apprehended during the early morning round-up. The following were arrested and transported to the Berks County Sheriff’s Department Central Processing Center for processing and arraignment.
Jonathan Hafer, 33, Blandon, was arrested for Possession/PWI/Delivery of Cocaine.
Phillip Amato, 20, Fleetwood, was arrested for Possession/PWI/Delivery of Marijuana & LSD.
Adrian Maue, 21, Blandon, was arrested for Possession/PWI/Deliver of Marijuana & LSD.
Daniel Gladu, 34, Shillington, was arrested for Delivery of a Non-Controlled Substance (Purported to be Cocaine).
Theo S. Almonds, 36, Reading, was arrested for Possession/PWI/Delivery of Marijuana.
Jose Diaz, 48, Reading, was arrested for Possession/PWI/Delivery of Cocaine.
Daniel Rodriguez, 24, Reading, was arrested for Possession/PWI/Delivery of Marijuana.
Angelo Reid, 39, Reading, was arrested for Possession/PWI/Delivery of Cocaine.
Jose Lugo, 49, Muhlenberg Twp., was arrested for Possession/PWI/Delivery of Heroin.
Defends are awaiting arraignment at central processing.
Six suspects are still at large: Ricky Cortez, Reading; Dajir Robinson, Birdsboro; David Santana, Reading; Jeffrey Gladu, Shillington; Miguel Roque, Reading; and Jose Delgado, Reading.
Another drug round-up was wrapped up around three weeks ago where Adams stated 25 people were arrested from large scale drug rings.
“We continue to ask for help from the community,” Adams said. “Actively, there are detectives on the street searching for the six other individuals.”
