WILLIAMS GROVE For the second week in a row a last lap pass netted the sprint car feature win at Williams Grove Speedway and this week it also kicked off the 23rd annual Pennsylvania Speedweek series for sprint cars when Greg Hodnett got the victory on Friday night. The win was Hodnetts first of the season at Williams Grove to begin the speedweek series, worth $5,000. Heading for the white flag, Danny Dietrich jumped the cushion in the third and fourth turns and that was all Hodnett needed to make a run for the win. He drove to Dietrichs inside as the pair headed out of the second turn and onto the backstretch with the lead.

Dietrich tried to reclaim control with a run that saw him slap the outside backstretch wall as he shot his car into the third corner but to no avail as Hodnett went on to take his 52nd career checkers at Williams Grove, giving himself sole possession of fourth on the ovals all time win list. The win was also the 23rd of Hodnetts career in speedweek action. Dietrich settled for second followed by Danny Lasoski, Brett Marks and Sam Hafertepe Jr.Sixth through 10th went to Chad Layton, Lance Dewease, Fred Rahmer, Alan Krimes and Brian Montieth.

John Kovatch won the 15-lap SpeedSTR feature event over Brian Montieth, Nick Pecko, Brad Brightbill and Freddie Rahmer.

GRANDVIEW For the sixth time this season Duane Howard was able to drive the Chad Sinon owned BPG Racing No. 4 to victory in the 30-lap NASCAR 358 Modified stock car feature race at Grandview Speedway on Saturday night. Brett Kressley wheeled the Kressley Auto & Truck Sales No. 19K to his fourth win of the season in the 25-lap Sportsman feature race while Sean Merkel took the top honors in the 25-lap Late Model feature for the first time.

Howard worked his way toward the front from 16th starting spot while Todd Smith set the pace in the 30-lap Modified feature until the 19th lap. At the 20-lap marker Howard charged to the front and led the field to the finish to gain the win. Second spot went to Kyle Weiss, Hamburg, followed by Meme DeSantis, Tommy Scheetz III and Mike Gular.

Sean Merkel led from start to finish taking his first win of the season in a Late Model feature race. He was followed across the finish line by Chuck Schutz who came from 12th to finish second. Third went to Kory Fleming followed by Ron Kline, a past champion making his first start of the season, and Rick Todorow.

And it was Brett Kressley getting by Tom Miller, who had led from the start of the 25 lap Sportsman feature, with two laps to go and driving to the victory. Miller held on for second followed by Ronnie Krex, Paul Kline and Jared Umbenhauer.

LINCOLN Sometimes, it’s just your night. And race number two of Pennsylvania Speedweek belonged to Alan Krimes at Lincoln Speedway Saturday night.

Krimes turned fourth-quick time and finished fourth in his heat. Both Stevie

Smith and Fred Rahmer finished in to top two of their heat, putting Krimes

into the inversion for the feature. When Smith picked pill number four for

the inversion, Krimes found himself on the pole for the ‘A’ Main.

The bottom was where Rahmer was running, and although he couldn’t catch

Krimes, he did complete a solid run to continue his string of top ten

finishes in every race he’s run this year. Krimes’ final margin of victory

in his 13th career Lincoln win was 3.28 seconds.Third through fifth were Stevie Smith, Brian Montieth, and 16th-startingLance Dewease, who caught Adam Wilt as the two passed under the white flag.

Seventh through tenth behind Wilt were Sam Hafertepe, Jr., Brent Marks,

21st-starting Cory Haas, and Jim Siegel. As the checkered fell, rain forced cancellation of the All American Outlaw feature.
