State Police, Hamburg, are investigating a hit-and-run accident on June 29 that took place on Route 143 south of Stony Run Valley Road in Albany Township, involving a 1992 Chevrolet Cheyenne.

The Cheyenne was traveling north on 143 in the right lane of travel. As it crested the top of a hill in the roadway, the unknown driver allowed the Cheyenne to exit the northbound lane and enter into the southbound lane of travel. The Cheyenne then struck the north side shoulder/embankment which consisted of rock. The Chevy then veered across both lanes of travel where it then struck and damaged approximately 12 feet of guide rail. The car then continued a short distance until it impacted against the guide rail a second time, and came to rest while blocking the entire northbound lane of travel.

The Cheyenne sustained heavy/disabling damage. The driver fled the scene and left the car blocking the northbound lane.
