Roaring 20s Dixieland Jazz Orchestra performs in Kutztown July 13

Back by popular demand, Ben Mauger’s Roaring 20s Dixieland Jazz Orchestra performs this Saturday evening, July 13, from 7 to 9 p.m. at Kutztown Park.
The band was a huge success last year in their inaugural performance in Kutztown as part of the Borough Concert Series.
The group, under the direction of Ben Mauger, is a 10-piece orchestra that plays the hot dance music of the 1920s and ‘30s era, and the Swing New York City style revival Jazz made famous in the ‘50s and ‘60s. This HOT JAZZ music of that era and was made famous by many bands and soloists throughout Jazz Clubs and Speakeasies across America. They will delight the audience with the upbeat hot music such as “The Charleston”, “Varsity Drag”, “I’ll see You In My Dreams”, “Happy Feet”, “Doin’ the Uptown Lowdown”, and many more.
They will also perform many of the most popular Dixieland songs like “Basin Street Blues”, “Sweet Georgia Brown”, ”Darktown Strutter’s Ball”, and many more for everyone’s enjoyment.
The band is comprised of three saxophones, two cornets, a trombone, a piano, a guitar/banjo, a tuba and drums. Ben Mauger, who is the band leader and lead cornet, has been leading Dixieland Jazz bands and has performed all over the east coast for more than 25 years. This relatively new band, formed in 2010, has become very popular as they bring this style of Dixieland music to central and eastern Pennsylvania and all along the east coast.
The concert is free to the public and is part of the Borough of Kutztown 2013 Concert Series in the Park and will be held rain or shine in the covered Kutztown Park Bandshell.
