The Pennsylvania German Cultural Heritage Center at Kutztown University offers youth a unique learning experience this summer. Their Kid’s Camp is a five-day exploration of the culture, life, history, language, arts and crafts of the Pennsylvania Dutch.
Camp is offered to children ages 6-14 and will be held July 22 to 26, from 9:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. This year’s theme is Holidays; each day will represent a different holiday that is celebrated by the Pennsylvania Dutch. On the roster this year are crafts such as pottery, paper folding, hearth-cooking, basket-making, wheat weaving, egg scratching, hex sign painting and much more.
The Center willhost a family 4th of July themed picnic on July 26 for students and their families on the last day of Camp. The picnic will include food and drinks, wagon rides, folklife demonstrations and live animals.
The cost of the camp includes a daily snack and drink and all of the necessary supplies for each day’s crafts. Class size is limited and registration ends July 8. For more information about Kids Camp, call 610-683-1589 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
