ROBERT T. SPAYD Robert T. Spayd, 87, formerly of Exeter Township and Wyomissing, passed away Sunday, July 14, 2013 in the Phoebe Berks Healthcare Center.

He was the widower of Florence M. (Bieber) Spayd who passed away November 29, 1991.

Born in Alsace Township, he was a son of the late Edwin and Sarah (Readinger) Spayd.

Robert was a United States Navy Veteran of World War II, serving on the Landing Ship-LST-317 in Normandy on D-Day. He was a member of Community U.C.C., St. Lawrence.

Robert was an automobile mechanic for 30 years for Marshall Chevrolet in Reading and then became the owner/operator of Spayd and Gernert Auto in West Reading for 5 years until his retirement.

Robert is survived by: One Son: Larry R. Spayd husband of Shirley of Spring Township; One Daughter: Sheila Bohn companion of Thomas O’Connor of Exeter Township; Three Grandchildren and Two Great-Grandchildren; Three Brothers: Earl, Russell and Dennis and Four Sisters: Betty, Mary, Eva and Sandy.

Funeral Services were held in the Lutz Funeral Home, Inc. 2100 Perkiomen Ave. Mt. Penn on Thursday, July 18, at 11 a.m.

Interment in Forest Hills Memorial Park.

RALPH R. ‘STONY’ KAUFMAN, JR.

Ralph R. ‘Stony’ Kaufman, Jr., 74, of Birdsboro, passed away Tuesday, July 16, 2013 in the Reading Hospital and Medical Center.

He was the husband of Carol J. (Anderson) Kaufman. Born in Reading, he was a son of the late Ralph R. Sr. and Kathryn M. (McDonough) Kaufman.

Ralph was the owner of the Boating Center on the Schuylkill River. He was the previous owner of the California Bar and Grill and most recently the owner of R&S Repair.

In addition to his wife, Ralph is survived by: Two Daughters: Jolene Kaufman and Stacey Majeski; One Son: Ralph R. Kaufman, III; One Step-Son: Timothy Papley and One Step-Daughter: Lorene Pepper; Three Granddaughters: Magen, Morgan and Alissa; One Grandson: Ashton; Step Grandsons: Vincent, Eric, Anthony and Kyle; One Step-Granddaughter: Nicole and Two Sisters: Joan Young and Mary Jane Bergstresser.

Funeral Services were held in the Lutz Funeral Home, Inc., 2100 Perkiomen Ave. Mount Penn on Friday, July 19 at 10 a.m. Friends could call on Thursday evening from 6 – 8 p.m. Interment in Forest Hills Memorial Park. Donations may be made to the American Lung Association 1301 Pennsylvania Ave., N.W. Suite 800 Washington, D.C. 20004.
