“Kutztown Day is a community celebration run by the people of Kutztown for the people of Kutztown,” said Committee secretary Louise DeVall, of Kutztown. “We want to celebrate and appreciate what we have in our community.”

Held at Kutztown Park every year on the first Sunday of August, this year’s celebration was on Aug. 4.

Highlights of Kutztown Day included performances by the Allentown Band with three concerts in the park bandshell.

New to the event was Preschool Children’s Vision Screening sponsored by the Kutztown Lions Club from 1 to 4 p.m. Returning was the Kutztown Police Department Kinner Kards program.

There were also children’s games, Bingo, Ventriloquist Marian and Friends, and a quoit tournament with prizes sponsored by the Kutztown Optimist Club.

“We want them to have fun and have an enjoyable day,” DeVall said.

And, of course, the day’s activities concluded with fireworks.
