Building a Better Boyertown will present the 5th Annual Dog Days of August. The event will take place from 10:00 am – 1:00 pm starting at the intersection of North Chestnut Street and Philadelphia Avenue and will progress throughout downtown to sponsoring businesses and watering stations on Saturday, Aug. 17.

Maps of the event will be available at the BBB table that day.

Pet owners and their four-legged friends can start the day by cooling off at the Boyertown Area YMCA’s Splash Party located in the innercore parking lot behind Joe Paws Dog Bakery. While they are there, they will meet the Phoenix Animal Rescue team and pick up a few delicious Joe Paws’ doggie treats.

As visitors to the downtown progress, they can take advantage of free pet nail trimming by Fuzzy Days LLC, make friends with BARCO at the ‘indoor play area,’ and purchase hot dogs to support Boy Scout Troop 533. Shoppers can pick up early Christmas gifts such as wonderful toys and pet supplies from Robin Zimmers Pets and reflective leashes from My Dog & Me. Meet the wonderful owners of pet-friendly services of GiGi’s at Home Pet Care and Paw Stars Dog Training.

Both puppies and people can grab an icy treat from Rita’s where PUP-sicles are free and water ice will be offered. Other vendors at Rita’s Water Ice location will be Dog Town and the United Way of Boyertown. Still more local businesses are opening their doors to dog-friendly shoppers by hosting watering stations (Serenity Junction, Studio B, BARCO, CrossFit Fidelity and more).

As The Dog Days of August wraps up, The 3 Dog Night After Party will just be picking up. Stop in at The Other Farm Brewing Company from 1 1a.m. for “dog” specialty beers and some Hillbilly BBQ. Pets are welcomed on the front porch and in the beer garden.

The Dog Days of August is made possible by the sponsors to date: Studio B, Rita’s Water Ice, Everything Postal, Robin Zimmers Pets, GiGi’s at Home Pet Care and CrossFit Fidelity.
