Twin Valley’s third annual RaiderFest and the second yearly Raise the Spirit event will be held together this year, on Aug. 24 at Twin Valley High School.
First on the twin bill event is a tailgating party featuring fun, food and school tours for alumni, slated to lead the festivities starting at 4 p.m. This is followed by the Twin Valley alumni soccer game at 5 p.m. Finally, the 7 p.m. school pride parade honoring past, present and upcoming Twin Valley athletes trails this with a distinctive tribute to the 2012-2013 Berks County girls field hockey champions.
In an interview with Lynn Weller of Twin Valley Community Education Foundation (TVCEF), she revealed, “It was a good fit to bring the community and the alumni community together to have a big kind of spirit day pep rally to kick off the school year to get people excited, specifically about the Twin Valley sports and athletes for the coming year. So, we decided to work together this year to make it a bigger event.”
The event welcomes Twin Valley alumni, present students, parents and the public. Event entrance is by donation only. Food and drinks will be available for purchase. Alumni are encouraged to contact firstname.lastname@example.org before the event if interested in playing in the alumni soccer game.
Monies raised from the conjoined events are being used to support and beautify Twin Valley High School. Last year’s funds were used for the design and purchase of nineteen “Raider Country” light post banners at the high school. Previously, a high school mascot was provided for the high school.
This year’s sponsors include Morgan Corporation, TVCEF, Wallace and Wolitarsky Dental Associates, R-V Industries, Inc., Carl Wingard, Inc., and the All Star Boosters.
TVCEF is a non-profit organization formed by an independent board of public volunteers serving Berks and Chester Counties. TVCEF helps to support many unique opportunities for Twin Valley students through scholarships, cultural events and school grants, as well as providing other community programs such as evening adult classes and trips.
