Kutztown Community Library hosted its Summer Reading Program Digging into Reading Finale for all ages on Aug. 16 at the Kutztown Park Bandshell.
The young readers were taken on a Dinosaur Expedition with paleontologists Mike and Roberta Straka.
“We dig dinosaurs!” shouted the Straka’s to open their presentation.
With the help of an alligator puppet, the Straka’s shared with the children how they dig for dinosaur fossils. The interactive presentation included trivia and audience volunteers participating in their own game show.
The little explorers learned how fossils are made and had the opportunity to see fossilized dinosaur bones, large and small. The Straka’s even revealed a large fossilized head of a T-Rex they call Elvis.
Their dinosaur expedition concluded with a raffle for prizes, such as dinosaur toys and books. There were snacks and a snow cone machine.
