Three men have been charged with more than 30 burglaries or attempted burglaries in LehighCounty and three other counties.
The burglaries occurred at commercial businesses between May 29, 2013, and July 19, 2013,in Lehigh, Berks, Northampton and Montgomery counties, but the majority of the burglarieswere in Lehigh County.
The defendants removed registers, cigarette cartons and packs, change jars, cash and coinsfrom the businesses, according to an affidavit of probable cause filed by Pennsylvania StatePolice Trooper Michael Everk and Detective Michael Marks of the Whitehall Township PoliceDepartment. The total amount of items stolen was $21,416, and the amount of damage totaled$33,721.
The three defendants are Ralph Alberto Abreu, 21, who has no known address; Alex Ramos,23, of 153 W. Court St., Allentown; and Jose Antonio Cortes, 22, of 943 Ĺ Fifth St., Allentown.
The three are charged with multiple counts of burglary, criminal attempt at burglary, criminaltrespass, criminal conspiracy to commit criminal trespass, criminal mischief, criminal conspiracyto commit criminal mischief, theft, criminal conspiracy to commit theft, receiving stolenproperty and criminal conspiracy to receiving stolen property.
Abreu, Cortes and Ramos were to be arraigned in Lehigh County Central Booking onWednesday, Aug. 28, 2013.
An affidavit of probable cause alleges the following:
All of the burglaries were committed between 8:30 p.m. to 8:30 a.m.State Police and police departments that were investigating the burglaries obtainedsurveillance videos from the burglary scenes. The clothing that the suspects wore and that wasobserved on the videos was consistent with reports of witnesses.
Video at one of the burglaries showed the getaway vehicle arriving at and leaving thelocation.
At 8 a.m. on July 19, 2013, a burglary occurred at Samís Pizza, 5041 Route 873 in NorthWhitehall Township. The perpetrators fled in a vehicle that matched the description of thevehicle that had been seen on video in a previous burglary.
Abreu, Cortez and Ramos were arrested by State Police shortly after that burglary.

As in every criminal case, the fact that an arrest has occurred or a complaint has beenfiled is merely an accusation; and the defendants, Alex Ramos, Ralph Alberto Abreu andJose Antonio Cortes, are presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
