On Saturday, Hamburg will welcome upwards of 30,000 people and 144 vendors for the annual Taste of Hamburger Festival; in October, 20,000 people will attend the King Frost parade. With events this big, parking restrictions are necessary to ensure that everyone is safe and that both events run smoothly.

Mayor Roy Del Rosario has issued the following parking proclamations:

-Parking restrictions will be in effect from 7:00a.m. to 8:00p.m. on August 31, 2013 on the following streets; State street between 2nd Street and 4th Street, South 4th Street between State Street and Pine Street, Third Street between Island Street and Pine Street, Pine Street between 3rd Street and 4th Street, Apple Street between the Hamburg Library and Pine Street, Church Street between State Street and Pine Street

-Parking restrictions will be in effect from 4:00p.m. on October 26, 2013 until 12:00p.m. on October 27, 2013 on the following streets; Port Clinton Avenue – one-way west bound between 3rd and 4th streets – parking restrictions will be the same as in years past

In other council news… -The Personnel Committee requested and received approval to increase the current part-time police department employee pay rate effective immediately; Council member Jeff Adam was the sole ‘No’ vote on this approval.

-Finance committee requested and received approval to hire Jose Gonzalez as a part-time police department employee pending background checks and chief approval; Jeff Adam was the sole ‘No’ vote but only on the pay amount.

-Marisa C. Lecenski was appointed as the Chief Administrative Officer for both the uniform and non-uniform pension plans.

-The solicitor recommended and the council approved adoption of Resolution No. 31-2013, ‘procedures for complains with the professional services contract provisions of Act 44 of 2009;’ Act 44 of 2009 is the Pension Reform Act Compliance.

-The following meeting dates were reported for the month of September: Street Committee on Sept. 3at 3p.m., Personnel Committee on Sept. 3at 4p.m., Property Committee on Sept. 10at 3 p.m., Library Board on Sept. 10 at 6p.m., Safety Committee on Sept. 17 at 6p.m., Water/Sewer & Public Relations on Sept. 17 at 6:30p.m., Planning Commission on Sept. 17 at 7p.m., Hamburg Municipal Authority on Sept. 18 at 7p.m., Finance Committee on Sept. 23 at 6p.m., and Council on Sept. 23 at 7p.m.

-Council members met for an executive session for a personnel issue dealing with a 3rd step grievance filing by former Officer Keven Chase.
