The Historical Society of Berks County is pleased to announce to the general public its name and logo change on Sept. 4.

The Berks History Center will become the name of the iconic building located at 940 Centre Ave. which preserves and displays the county’s unique heritage. The Historical Society of Berks County will remain the umbrella organization for the Berks History Center, the Henry Janssen Library, and the Hendel House.

‘Today there are many new members of our community who are not familiar with HSBC and all the wonderful programming it offers the community,’ said Sime Bertolet, Executive Director. ‘We have heard from many that while they had heard of HSBC, they thought it was an exclusive members-only society. While that notion is not true, perception is reality and we must dispel that idea.’

To achieve this goal, the board approved the new name and logo, the Berks History Center, with the design expertise from Reese Integrated Marketing, said Bertolet.

‘Like the Henry Janssen Library and the Hendel House, the Berks History Center remains the umbrella of the Historical Society of Berks County, however, it now carries a name/identity that is more reflective and embracing of contemporary culture and simply, more welcoming.’

To celebrate these changes the Berks History Center held a reception Sept. 4, hosted by Pat Perfect, board member. Additionally, guests could peruse the galleries and view the new format of the Berks History Center’s BCTV show. The community was invited to attend this free event.
