The Andulhea Community Chorus invited the public to its 5th annual concert, We the People…in Hope & Memoriam, on Sunday, Sept. 22 at 2 p.m. at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Hamburg.
This 40+ voice choir, under the direction of Don Schilke, has been featured at various area events including Hamburg-er Days, Catch the Spirit Christmas program, dedication services, festivals and various Sunday worship services. Their programs are ‘audience friendly,’ meaning that the songs are familiar to most people and greatly enjoyed by all.
The Sept. 22 concert commemorates the Battle of Gettysburg revealing the tears, anguish, compassion and humanity that were shown by the great citizens and soldiers during the Civil War. The Andulhea Chorus will be joined by the Hamburg Middle School’s premier choir ‘Wings’ in a poignant rendition of Jeff Moss’ One Small Voice and Johnny has Gone for a Soldier. Enjoy the stirring music in Spafford’s It Is Well. Plan to tap your feet as you listen to such period pieces as: Cindy, Goober Peas, A Place in the Choir. The program also features Zion’s Lutheran Brass ensemble and local musicians playing banjo, guitar, drum, accordion, recorder, clarinet and Justin McClure on St. John’s marvelous pipe organ.
Escorted by the 2nd Pennsylvania Reserves Re-enactor Unit, professional re-enactor, James Hayney, portraying President Lincoln, will deliver The Gettysburg Address and talk about his love of Pennsylvania. Local author, Janet Barr, will be available to sign copies of her newest book In Our Neck of the Woods.
