Berks County area waiters and waitresses served up more than a pasta dinner Sept. 20 and 21 at St. Paul’s UCC in Fleetwood, they were also the entertainment.

‘The show was great as usual,’ reported Cheryl Thornburg of The Merucy. ‘It really is the best entertainment deal in Berks County. I try to go every year.’

Fleetwood Community Theatre, a not-for-profit 501(c)(3) volunteer organization of theatre lovers, presented their annual Spaghetti and Song fundraising event with this year’s theme, ‘Show Me The Funny.’ Songs had a comedic flair according to FCT’s release.

‘It’s an all you can eat spaghetti and salad bar fundraiser with the waitresses and waiters as our entertainers. It’s a fun event for us where we audition solo, duets, and groups numbers for our cast members to perform,’ wrote FCT President and event Production Manager Brian Miller in an email to The Patriot prior to the event. He is a Hamburg native and resident of Blandon.

This year’s performers were Erin and Bob Aregood of Exeter, Amy and Pete Bourey of Exeter, Jason Denlinger of Lancaster, Angela DeAngelo of Blandon, Jeannette DeAngelo of Blandon, Stan Durlak of Exeter, David Erb of Kutztown, Dave Hornberger of Sinking Spring, Brian Miller of Blandon, Ray Rhoads of Reading, and Debbi Silas of Exeter.

Miller noted that staff in the kitchen and servers were also from various areas as well, including Fleetwood, Oley, and Temple.

Director was Jeannette DeAngelo, accompanist as Ray Rhoads, and Master Chef was Peter Laucks.
