Rep. David Maloney (R-Berks) issued the following statement after supporters of House Bill 76 today descended upon the state Capitol to press lawmakers to hold a vote on House Bill 76, the Property Tax Independence Act, of which Maloney is a co-sponsor.
“The havoc that school property taxes are wreaking on innocent homeowners needs no elaboration beyond the passionate and wise words spoken on the steps of the Capitol today by our bosses – the citizens of our great Commonwealth.
“This is a movement of the people, and they came here to have their voices heard – again. When you have a grassroots movement this big, you cannot ignore it. House Bill 76 needs to have a vote on the House floor this session. The people demand it. Commonsense demands it. And, not the least, common decency demands it.”
