Editor’s Note: Karen introduced the 2013 Fleetwood Area High School Homecoming Court during the football game on Saturday, Sept. 28.

First on the field is Jenn Mikitka who is the daughter of Jeff and Karen Mikitka and the younger sister of Jeff Rey. When she isn’t reading or traveling, Jenn can be found lifeguarding at the Fleetwood Pool. Jenn plays outdoor and indoor field hockey, has participated in County Chorus, was the Junior Class President and is currently the Senior Class President. Our busy girl, Jenn is a member of National Honor Society, National Art Honor Society, Drama Club, Chorus, Vocal Ensemble, Choraliers, and she volunteers for Junior Achievement. Very soon, she will also be proudly representing Fleetwood High School this year in the Berks County Outstanding Young Woman Program. After high school, Jenn plans to attend either Pitt or the University of Maryland for Dietetics. She would like to thank all of her wonderful friends who have been so supportive of her and her family for always believing in her and encouraging her to follow her dreams.

The lucky young man on Jenn’s arm tonight is Matt Bogacki, who is the son of Gary and Lisa Bogacki and the brother of Erin and Josh. Matt’s favorite thing to do is spend time with family and friends, but he’s also a member of National Honor Society, National Art Honor Society, Artifact, the Fleetwood High Swim Team, and the Theatrical Society. Further, Matt is involved in many of the musical groups including Concert Band, Marching Band, Wind Ensemble, and Jazz Band. Matt’s future plans include attending college and majoring in Animation.

The daughter of Keith and Diane Hawkins is next to be lead onto the field. Elaina Hawkins, a sibling of Brad, Ashley and Jenna Hawkins, is a member of the National Honor Society, National Art Honor Society, Artifact, The Theatrical Society and Chorus. She has participated in soccer, cross country, and track and field throughout her high school career. Currently, she works at Bill’s Homemade Candies, St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, and Golden Oaks Golf Club. With what is left with Elaina’s free time, she enjoys being with family and friends. This young woman’s future plans include attending college to major in behavioral psychology. Elaina would especially like to thank all of her friends and family for the love and support they have given her throughout the years, and to wish her parents a Happy Nineteenth Anniversary today!

Miss Hawkins is escorted by Clay Weidemoyer, the son of Kent and Lisa Weidemoyer and the older brother of Morgan. Clay is a member of the National Honor Society, plays on the varsity baseball and basketball teams for Fleetwood and has served as the captian of the baseball team. Clay also plays baseball in the fall for the Playball Black Sox. When he has some free time, Clay enjoys attending and watching a variety of sporting events, traveling with his family, and spending time with his friends. Clay’s favorite high school memory is winning the 2012 Berks County Baseball Championship. He plans on attending college to play baseball and major in accounting and finance. Clay would like to thank his family and friends for always being there to cheer him on and help in achieving his goals.

Miss Lexi Hornbuckle is next on the field. She is supported by her parents Bob and Colleen Hornbuckle and her brother and biggest fan, Cole. Lexi loves all kinds of music, being outdoors and hanging with her friends. She is always rooting for the underdog and wishes the world would be less judgemental. Her future plans include attending college to become a dental hygienist to help the world smile brighter.

And smiling bright as he joins Lexi on the field is Fleetwood drum major Killian Grider! Killian is the son of Natalie Kunsman and Matthew Grider and the stepbrother of Piper and Ian O’Keefe. He is heavily involved in the music department at Fleetwood. He is an active member in band, chorus, orchestra, Choraliers, Men’s Chorus, Jazz Band and Wind Ensemble. He has participated in Track and Field and Cross Country in his high school career. He is a member of Future Business Leaders of America, Mock Trial and Book Club, and has been a part of the production of every one of Fleetwood’s school shows while he’s been in high school. Something really exciting is that in October, Killian will be representing Fleetwood in National Chorus, which is not a small accomplishment! His future plans include majoring in Biology or Chemistry in college with the hopes of going to med school and becoming a doctor. He would like to thank all of the amazing people he has met in every music group, sports team, and club for making his high school experience unforgettable.

The lovely Lauren Schlegel is next out on the field. Her escort will be running in shortly. Lauren is the daughter of Steven and Kristin Schlegel and the sibling of Jon, Jen and Matt. She is a member of the National Honor Society, National Art Honor Society and Vocal Ensemble. This Student Council President is also the Creative Director for Artifact and the proud Captain of this year’s Girl’s soccer team. Lauren is looking forward to hopefully winning another soccer county championship! She enjoys spending time with friends, traveling, and playing soccer with the Rage Soccer Club all year long. Lauren plans to attend Lehigh University next year to major in Biochemistry. She would like to thank her friends and family for supporting her through the years.

You probably noticed that Lauren Schlegel was joined by a handsome young man who was just out there playing for us on the field! Earlier, he told us he couldn’t possibly be on Homecoming Court because he had to play football and he wouldn’t have time to change. Now, that’s dedication, folks! We are sure glad we convinced him he could do both! Cody Wolf is the son of Michelle Conrath and Tom Wolf. Cody plays on both the Fleetwood Football and Baseball teams. He even earned the coach’s award for football his sophomore year. In his free time, Cody enjoys being in the woods, cruising around, and hanging out with his family and friends. Cody plans to study Exercise Science in college and, of course, play football. After school, Cody plans to travel the world and start a family. Just a few more minutes and we’ll have you back to the game, Cody.

The sweet Miss Morgan Noll is making her way onto the field right now. This delightful young woman is the daughter of Daniel and Holli Noll and the sister of Zach and Kirsten Noll. In her free time, Morgan loves playing field hockey, spending time with her friends and her cousins Maddie and Nate. Morgan has been a member of Student Council since the fifth grade because she loves any chance she can get to meet new people and be social. Morgan also works at Redner’s as a cashier and enjoys her extremely interesting coworkers and customers. Because of her grandfather’s ongoing battle with Parkinson’s disease, Morgan would like to pursue a career as a Speech Language Pathologist after high school. She would also like to send a big shout out to “the group” for being such supportive friends and always keeping her life interesting.

Another dedicated football player is able to enjoy calling himself Morgan Noll’s escort this evening. Morgan Shigo is the son of John and Maryann Shigo and the sibling of Rachel Shigo. Morgan’s favorite things to do include playing sports and hanging out with his friends. When he can combine the two, like here on the football field, this Shigo boy is in heaven. Morgan plans to attend a four year college after high school. He’d like to major in Business Management and also continue his track and field career while at school.

At this time, ladies and gentlemen, please welcome onto the field our last year’s homecoming king and queen, Samuel Cabrerra and Maureen McGarry! Sam and Maureen have happily agreed to crown this evening’s 2013 Homecoming King and Queen. Thank you, Sam and Maureen for joining us.

The 2013 Homecoming King and Queen are Killian Grider and Morgan Noll.

Thank you, Fleetwood, for all of your support in crowning our Homecoming King and Queen for the 2013-14 school year!
