A Kutztown man, 19, will be charged with aggravated assault on a police officer during an arrest attempt Oct. 2 for charges relating to a June robbery.
Jordan I. Swavely, 19, later turned himself into Kutztown Police on Oct. 3, according to a police release.
On Oct. 2 at about 11:25 p.m.,’a Kutztown Police Officer observed Swavely at the Turkey Hill in Kutztown and attempted to place him under arrest. Swavely resisted and escaped,’ Kutztown Police Chief Craig Summers reported in an Oct. 3 release.
As a result, Officer Robert Gately received injuries and was treated at Lehigh Valley Hospital Center and released, according to the release.
Swavely will be charged with Aggravated Assault on a Police Officer, Resisting Arrest and Escape.
‘Swavely of Kutztown along with co-defendants Megan Strain, 18, of Topton; Glendy Sergeant, 20, currently in Berks County Prison, and Christopher Harmony,40, of Topton are accused of robbing two individuals at knife point,’ which occurred on June 2 at about 2 a.m., Summers reported in the Oct. 3 release.
