Annually the Fleetwood Fire Company touches the lives of more than 700 children around Fire Prevention Week Oct. 6 to 12. Members, volunteering their time, interact with children ages 2-10, talking about fire prevention and showing the kids fire trucks and the equipment carried on them.
The Fleetwood volunteers were recently at St. Paul’s Lutheran Preschool, St. Paul’s U.C.C. Preschool, and the YMCA early learning class on Oct. 9, and look forward to the Willow Creek Elementary School children where we will partner with the Walnuttown Fire Company on Oct. 18. The fire company also held an open house at the station on Oct. 8 where children explored the fire trucks and ambulances, toured the facility, and were given demonstrations on fire safety.
This year’s fire prevention theme is ‘Prevent Kitchen Fires’, and additional information can be found on this theme and other fire safety topics at www.FPW.org or www.NFPA.org.
