MORGANTOWN – A 78-year-old Douglassville man has died from injuries incurred Oct. 2 when his car was crushed by a tractor-trailer, the Berks County coroner has confirmed.
Richard M. Graves died Tuesday at Reading Hospital from trauma from multiple internal injuries, Terri Straka, a deputy Berks County coroner, said Friday.
The accident occurred on Route 23 near the Interstate 176 interchange about 11 a.m. Oct. 2 and left Graves’ car flattened and forced a truck carrying produce down an embankment.
In an Oct. 4 report in the Tri-County Record, Caernarvon Police Chief Paul Stolz said the accident appeared to have occurred as Graves was attempting to make a left turn onto Route 23 from Morview Boulevard, and the driver of the truck was traveling east on Route 23.
The driver of the truck, 58-year-old Issa Sallit of Lehigh County, was treated and released from Reading Hospital for minor injuries, according to an Oct. 18 report in The Reading Eagle.
