State Police reported that a Kutztown driver and passenger sustained major injury as the result of a crash on Old 22 in Greenwich Township on Sunday at 3:17 a.m.

According to the police release, a 2003 Mitsubishi Eclipse was traveling east on Old 22 approaching a right curve east of Hilltop Road when it crossed over the double yellow line into westbound traffic and then into an embankment. The vehicle went airborne striking numerous trees and then a utility pole, traveled back onto Old 22 and overturned on the roadway. One vehicle occupant was ejected.

Marcus Knight, 36, and Andrea Sanchez, 25, Phoenixville, both sustained major injuries and were transported to Lehigh Valley Hospital Cedar Crest. Police did not identify who was the driver. Police reported that it was unknown if seat belts were used.

The vehicle was towed from the scene.

Hamburg EMS, Kutztown EMS, Virginville Fire Department and Kempton Fire Department assisted at the scene.

Investigation continues.
