The ELANCO Library is excited to announce that we will be offering free tutoring in math and science on Tuesday andThursday evenings from 6pm-8pm starting on November 5. This program is a partnership between the Library and L&T Integrated Engineering Services in New Holland. Engineers from L&T are volunteering their time to tutor the students in our community.
Preschool Story Time will be offered for ages 3-6 on Tuesdays at 10:30 a.m. The programs feature themed books, songs, rhymes, movement activities and crafts to build language and literacy skills. In November, we will be celebrating National Picture Book Month during story time.
Toddlers are invited to a special story time just for them. The Friday Frolic encourages children ages 1-3 to will dance, zoom, scoot and hop between stories selected to promote language development. All adults are expected to participate and encourage the children to join in the fun. This program takes place every Friday at 10:30am.
Anything goes at Whatchamacallit Wednesdays! Families are invited to join us in the children’s library between 4:30 and 7:30pm for video games, crafts, or other activities. A full schedule of events is available on the library’s web page.
The Readers’ Roundtable book discussion group will meet on Monday, November 4 at 7pm. The memoir Identical Strangers by Paula Bernstein will be discussed.
Tweens and Teens in grades 6-12 are invited to make and take a craft on Tuesday, November 5 from 3pm-7pm. This month we’ll be making Ninja Stress Balls.
A LEGO Block Party will be held on Monday, November 11, at 6:30 p.m. During this program for age 3 and up, which is held once a month, attendees will build creations out of LEGO bricks that will be displayed in the library. The theme for November is “Food.’
The Super Readers Council Book Club will meet on November 12 at 7 p.m. Participants ages 8 to 12 may read any book and bring it along for discussion.
On Wednesday, November 13 at 6:30pm, the Library will welcome Uhma Ruth Py, a Lenape elder of the Wolf Clan, for an evening of storytelling and Eastern Woodland Culture. Uhma Ruth will be bringing her teaching table for a hands-on experience. All ages are welcome to attend.
ELANCO Elementary Schools have early dismissal on Thursday, November 14. Join us as we celebrate the release of Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Hard Luck, the 8th book in the popular book series by Jeff Kinney. We’ll watch the movie based on the third book (rated PG). Snacks will be provided! All ages are welcome.
Science can be dangerous, or least very messy. Danger Club is a science program for students ages 8-12. Our next meeting is Thursday, November 14 at 7pm.
I GEEK health: Tell me more about the Affordable Care Act. Learn what you need to know to make the best choices for medical Insurance through the Health Insurance Marketplace. The Welsh Mountain Health Center will present what the ACA is all about and what your options are. Three sessions will be offered: Saturday, November 16 at 10:30am, Monday, November 18 at 6:30pm, and Thursday, November 21at 10:30am.
The ELANCO Library Knitting Circle will meet on Monday, November 18 at 7pm. Please feel free to bring any type of needle craft; the circle, despite its name, is not limited to yarn based projects. All ages are welcome.
The Library is hosting Watch and Learn Movies at the Garden Spot Village Garden Towers on Tuesday, November 19 at 10am. Movies are provided by POV, Documentaries with a Point of View, and the November feature is Up Heartbreak Hill, a moving look at a new generation of Americans struggling to be both Native and modern.
Join us for Thanksgiving stories, crafts and a snack at Thanksgiving Story Time on Monday, November 25 at 7pm. All ages are welcome to attend this family event.
