Jill Dennin defeated Charles Martin Maddona by a 2-to-1 margin Tuesday for a four-year term on the Boyertown Area School Board.
Dennin had 1,024 votes to 514 for Maddona in unofficial results from the Berks and Montgomery County election boards.
The candidates were running for the Region 2 seat currently held by Ruth Dierolf.
Region 2 includes Boyertown borough, Douglass (Berks) Township and parts of Douglass (Montgomery) Township.
Dennin is a community volunteer and former substitute teacher. She also serves on committees for the Boy Scouts, her church and school district, and serves on the YMCA Board of Directors.
She has government experience, having worked for the governor of Connecticut in the federal/state relations office in Washington DC where she researched legislative issues.
Maddona is a deputy sheriff with Berks County Sheriff’s Department and a part-time police officer with Laureldale police in Berks County.
He previously served as police chief of Upper Pottsgrove, a part-time police officer with Bally and a part-time police officer with Macungie.
