The Morgantown Area Business Association appointed its 2017 officers during a recent breakfast on Dec. 20.
The 2017 officers are president Roseann Thomas, vice president of marketing Jim McIntyre, vice president of membership Lois Ann Mast, vice president of event Kelly Spica and treasurer Dave Hinkle.
Luanne “Bunny” Graham stepped down as secretary.
“Our Secretary Bunny Graham will be missed. She did a great job for many years,” said Thomas, noting that Bunny will be taking a break.
Officers welcomed Nora Filmore as the new secretary.
“I believe she will fit right in,” said Thomas.
Their goals for 2017 include helping MABA members to network together more and host more events.
Highlights from 2016 include the MABA Expo, which is an annual event.
“We feel the area gets to know us better,” she said.
Thomas hopes the community will use MABA members to help them with questions they have about local Morgantown businesses and the local Morgantown area.
MABA officers also look forward to recruiting more businesses and making MABA even bigger.
“Being able to see what our businesses have to offer so we can network better,” said Thomas who hopes to see more MABA members attend the monthly meetings held the third Tuesday at 7:30 a.m. at The Windmill Family Restaurant in Morgantown. “Looking forward to finding new ideas to help all.”
Thomas notes that a benefit of being a MABA member is getting your business name out in the community and online.
“When you type Morgantown in Google, MABA comes up so all members are easy to access. Our Directory is mailed out to more than 5,000 homes. If you live in Morgantown, Elverson, Honeybrook, Glenmore, parts of Mohnton, Pottstown and Birdsboro, it will be in your mailbox. People tell me they save and use them for years,” said Thomas. “Starting with this year’s book you will be able to click on a business and it will take you to their website, a feature we have wanted for a while.”
Thomas encourages businesses to contact MABA with any ideas to help them improve.
