Twelve students auditioned Sunday, Feb. 4, for the Reading Symphony Orchestra League Student Scholarship and for a chance to play with the Reading Youth Orchestra.
The winners are:
First Place of $1,000 – Marlin Anthony Thomas, son of Anthony and Sharon Thomas, 12th grade Governor Mifflin High School; Tuba – Played 1st Movement of Tuba Concerto by Edward Gregson; Steve Holgate, teacher.
Second Place of $800 – Mary Fetterman, daughter of Debbie and Ted Fetterman, 12th grade Boyertown Area High School; Soprano – Sang Je Veux Vivre from Romeo & Juliette by Charles Gounod; Tamara Black, teacher
Third Place of $600 – Matilde Heckler, daughter of Deborah and Daniel Heckler, 10th grade Owen J. Roberts High School; Violin – Played Third Concerto in G Major by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart; Lulia Li, teacher.
Fourth Place of $400 – Bryn Werley, daughter of Karen and Troy Werley, 11th grade Conrad Weiser High School; Flute – Played 1st Movement of Concerto in D Major by Franz Joseph Haydn; Donnasue Thompson, teacher.
