Seniors to compete for Outstanding Young Woman title
Twenty senior girls will compete for the title of Berks County’s Outstanding Young Woman on Saturday, Oct. 3, at Kutztown Area Senior High School.
Rachel Flicker, of Boyertown, and Emily Lash of Oley, will be two of the competitors. Emily, 17, is the daughter of Terry and Lynn Lash. Her talent will be a vocal presentation.
During the program, which begins at 7 p.m., each of the girls will compete for $17,000 in cash scholarships in the following areas:
• Judges interview-20 percent
• Scholastic Achievement- 20 percent
• Aerobics and Fitness-20 percent
• Performing Arts-20 percent
• Presence and presentation-20 percent
In addition to scholarships being awarded in the five categories listed above, scholarships will be awarded to the third runner-up, second runner-up and first runner-up, The Keystone Award and the title winner. The winner of the program will represent Berks County in Pennsylvania’s Outstanding Young Woman Program which will be held in Reading on Nov. 28.
Tickets (reserved seating only) can be purchased from any of the representatives or by calling the ticket chairman at 610-944-1084. The cost of the ticket is $10. Tickets may also be available at the door the night of the program.
