The fire company will be honoring past and present volunteers for their devoted service to the fire company and the community. Ceremonies begin at 2 p.m.
Goodwill Fire Company is proud of its service, history and many volunteers. The current officers are Chief Leo “Boots” Mutter, Asst. Chief John Mutter, Asst. Chief Glenn Mutter, Asst. Chief Mike Mutter, Chief Engineer Carl Stofflet, Asst. Engineer Todd Soffa, Asst. Engineer Kevin Quigley, Asst. Engineer Alan Grim, Fire Police Captain Jack Poh, Fire Police Lt. Harry Simpson, Fire Police Sgt. Adrienne McCaulley, President Kenneth Moats, Financial Secretary Paul Swavely, Secretary Duane Hoffman, Treasurer for Fire Company Eric Moser, Treasurer for Engine Room Mike Mutter, Asst. Treasurer Richard Keppler and Manager Wanda Ackerman.
The company, in operation since 1924, operates six vehicles: a 2007 Freightliner/Saulsbury Rescue Truck; a 2003 Four Guys 3,000 gallon Tanker/Pumper; a 1995 HME/Luverne Pumper with 1500 gpm pump and tank with 5" Large Diameter Hose; a 1977 Chevy 1200 gallon Stainless Steel Tanker; a 1973 Jeep Brush Truck; and a 1998 Dodge Utility Van.
The Freightliner/Saulsbury Rescue Truck was refurbished and returned to service in 2007. The fire company mounted the original 1986 truck body onto a new Freightliner cab and chassis, while adding light towers, new hydraulic lines and restored interior.
During the past winter they refurbished their 1973 Jeep Brush Truck. The body was strengthened, repaired and repainted, a new electric hose reel added, new emergency warning systems were installed and new top, sides and doors were added. A new hose and nozzle have been placed on this old but very reliable workhorse.
The fire company received a Federal Grant from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security under the Assistance to Firefighters Grant Program, which recently allowed the station to install a diesel exhaust removal system, and purchased a new thermal imaging camera.
