Illuminate 2009. Held at 4th and Pine streets, Hamburg from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. rain date is Thursday, Oct. 29. Free event includes games, face painting, music, food, petting zoo, moon bounce, crafts, clowns, stomp group, prizes and candy, pony rides and much more!
Hamburg Elementary School lunch menu. Turkey and cheese or tuna salad on bun, lettuce and tomato, sun chips, fresh apple wedges, milk. Apple Crunch Day.

Berks Encore Hamburg Congregate lunch menu. Sausage patty with peppers and onions, low salt tomato sauce, crushed cream corn, carrot raisin salad, round roll with margarine, fresh apple, one percent milk.

Hamburg Elementary School lunch menu. Spaghetti with meat sauce, Italian bread with margarine, tossed salad with dressing, peaches, ice cream sandwich and milk.
Berks Encore Hamburg Senior Center. List of activities: At 10 a.m., strength training, 10:15 a.m. cards, 12:30 p.m. dominoes.

Oct. 31
King Frost Parade 2009. Floats, bands, masqueraders and celebrities. 2009 pins available at many local businesses to help support the parade. The rain date is Saturday, Nov. 7 Applications will be accepted through Oct. 28. Please access registration form at www.hamburgjaycees.com or by calling 610-562-1684.
Community health screen. The Leesport area, sponsored by Leinbach’s Boy Scout Troop #190, will be sponsoring a community health screen. Health screening is a preventive health program that can determine if you have current or potential health problems. The health screen will be held at Schuylkill Valley Ambulance Association Building., 26 East Wall Street, Leesport, from 7 to 9:30 a.m. There is a cost.
SRGA Trailkeepers workday. Will be held at 9 a.m. at Morlatton Village Trail head off of Philadelphia Pike on Thun Trail. Work to be done includes brush clearing and tree removal along side of trail. The rain date will be Nov. 1. In the event of a questionable weather pattern or conditions, you may call Greg Marshall at 610-780-3195.
Nov. 1
Breakfast. Held at the Ontelaunee Grange #1617, 284 Oak Lane, Leesport, at 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. The public is invited.
PA German Service. A ervice will be held at Weisenberg Lutheran Church, 7645 Weisenberg Church Rd, New Tripoli, and will include special music from all ages. The guest speaker will be Reverend Guy Grube, retired pastor from Berks County, and the service led by Donald Breininger. A Social Hour will follow. For more information call 610 767-3321.
Basket Bingo. A basket bingo event will be held at Zion Blue Mountain, U.C.C. in Strausstown on Sunday, Nov. 1 at 2 p.m. Doors will open at 12:30 p.m. Tickets can be purchased at the door and include a hot dog and a soda. All proceeds go to the Ghana Mission Trip in 2010. Call Catharine 610-944-8894 for more information or tickets.

Senior Citizens Club of Hamburg program. Wayne Epler will be playing his keyboard renditions of some favorite songs. Wayne always draws a crowd, please come hear his music.
Nov. 5
Widow’s and widower’s luncheon. Held at noon at Hummel’s in Lenhartsville. Bring poems. This will be the last day to sign up for the banquet, on Nov. 21, at Blue Mountain Restaurant.
Nov. 7
Oyster supper. Jacob’s Church, Jacksonville, in Lehigh County, Route 143, New Tripoli, will have its annual oyster supper on Saturday, serving from 4 to 8 p.m. Menu includes oyster stews, homemade pattied fried oyster, french fries, oyster pies, turkey barbecues and homemade baked pies including lemon strip. Holiday Bazaar. St. John's UCC, Pricetown will hold a holiday bazaar from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the church (Rt. 12W and Rt. 662). Homemade food, white elephant, books, raffle, baked goods and Santa! Vendors welcomed! Table $10.00 or Room $15.00 Call 610-944-0539 for reservation.
Ffth annual “Smoke” Church bazaar. St. Paul's Lutheran "Smoke" Church will hold it's 5th annual Holiday Bazaar on Staurday. Doors are open 8 a.m. until 2 p.m. Follow Old 22, east approximately 2.5 miles, Church on the right.
Nov. 8
Zion’s Evangelical Lutheran Church 250th anniversary. The 250th anniversary celebration of Zion’s Evangelical Lutheran Church to be held at 10:30 a.m. with Pastor George P. Zacharda, Jr. preaching the sermon. Fellowship will follow the 10:30 a.m. service for personal visits with Pastor Zacharda and Emily.
Nov. 9
Pretzel City Bear Den. The local branch of Good Bears of the World, an international club devoted to put teddys in the arms of the lonely and the traumatized. The meeting will be held at 1 p.m. at 2649 Bernville Road, for more info, call 610-372-89-45, come join our den.
