Sandra Wood, retired Boyertown School District art teacher, was honored recently with the Outstanding Retired Art Educator Award from the Pennsylvania Art Education Association at their Conference in Malvern.

Wood, who retired  after teaching for forty years, is fondly remembered by thousands of students who attended Boyertown Elementary School. With her “teaching assistant,” the hand puppet Ollie, she fostered the joy of creating that made her school a showplace for art education.

Wood served as an occasional adjunct professor and guest speaker at Kutztown University, works as a consultant for Crayola and exhibits her watercolors locally. She is involved with Studio B, the Boyertown creative arts center.
