Local lawyer set to retire

Darryl Moyer, a mainstay in the Hamburg community, is preparing to retire down to Florida.
He leaves behind him memories of the last 20 years with the law firm Bear, Antanavage & Moyer, as well as being an active member of Hamburg.
“At the beginning of next year, I will retire,” Moyer stated in a phone interview last Friday.
He related that he began working with the law firm in 1981. Before that, he was involved with other lawyers in various law firms.
“Hamburg has been good to me,” Moyer said.
He is involved with organizations such as the North Berks Chamber of Commerce, Rotary Club and Hamburg Days.
He also helped devise the first Taste of Hamburger festival.
“When we did it the first year, in 2004, we were celebrating the 100th year anniversary of the hamburger,” he remembered. “We started that year with the festival, and since then it has really grown, especially within the last year.”
Taking over his commitments within the firm is Russell Farbiarz, who most recently moved from out of the area to Sinking Spring.
While originally from Long Island, N.Y., his wife is from the Hamburg area.
“She graduated from the high school,” Farbiarz explained.
He said there are a lot of opportunities Berks County.
“People who I have come into contact with have been very nice and warm to me,” he said.
With experience primarily in criminal work, Farbiarz worked as an assistant district attorney for Berks County for a little over a year.
“I’m certainly able to assist in criminal defense, but additionally I will be able to handle any property issue, state planning, wills, elder law, long term planning,” he said. “I’m eager to help anyone in the community.”
