Hamburg seniors. The senior citizens club welcomes Marilyn Althouse who will play the piano, entertaining the group with beautiful Christmas music. Please come and make your Holiday time complete. The Hamburg seniors meet at 2 pm. each Wednesday in the Hamburg Area Middle School Cafeteria.

Widow’s and widower’s lunch. Held at Blue Mountain Resort at noon. Bring poems.

Winter art stroll. In association with the Business Association’s Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony at 7 p.m., held in downtown Hamburg, including the Fourth and Pine streets parking lot.

Dec. 5
1st UCC Christmas Bazaar. Held from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Third and Pine streets, Hamburg. The bazaar with something for everyone: homemade baked goods, homemade candy, handcrafted items, jewelry, toys, knickknacks, ornaments and gift bags, religious and secular gifts, tea room for refreshments with friends and a festive atmosphere where all are welcome. We look forward to sharing in the joy of this bazaar with the Christmas season with you!
UMW Bazaar. Bethany United Methodist Church, Third and Island streets, Hamburg, is holding a bazaar from 8 a.m. to noon on Dec. 5. Includes: chipped beef breakfast plus, vintage jewelry, homemade crafts, Grandma’s attic, homemade cookies by the pound, country kitchen, children’s toys, free trade coffee. All proceeds go to the mission.

German Christkindl markt. The fourth annual German Christkindlmarkt eld at the Reading Liederkranz, 143 Spook Lane, (off Hill Road) we are celebrating the start of the Christmas season on the first Sunday in December, the second Sunday odf Advent, experience with us the sounds, taste and the feelings of Christmas. The public is welcome, there is no admission charge.
Breakfast. Held by Ontelaunee Grange #1617 at 214 White Oak Lane, Leesport, on Sunday, Dec. 6 from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. The public is invited.
Zion’s Church Travel preview. Zion’s Church, Windsor Castle, Hamburg, will host a 2010 Travel Preview on Sunday, Dec. 6, 2 p.m. at the Journey Café, West Pine Street, Hamburg. Videos and brochures will be presented with details of extended trips to Bermuda, the Great Smoky Mountains/Dollywood and Wellsboro, PA. A variety of one day trips will also be offered. Although sponsored by the Prime Timers Ministry of Zion’s Church, the trips are open to all ages. Refreshments will be served. Continued...

Miller-Kesytone Blood Drive. Scheduled at Lutheran Church of the Holy Trinity, 102 Apple Street, Leesport, from 3:40 to 7:20 p.m.

Senior Citizens Club. Mrs. Christine Ryan brings a group of middle school students to perform for us showing what they have learned this school year on the bells. Come enjoy the program and help show these students how much we appreciate their performing for our group. The Hamburg Seniors meet at 2 p.m. each Wednesday in the Hamburg Area Middle School Cafeteria.

Shartlesville Winter Carnival. The members of Friedens Church Shartlesville are celebrating their 3rd Annual Winter Carnival on December 5th from 4 to 8 p.m. Attendees will experience the fellowship and magic that the Christmas season brings. Child of all ages will enjoy a trolley ride around town with Santa and Mrs. Claus. Christmas wouldn’t be Christmas without the sounds of bells. Entertainment will include the Blue Mountain Academy Handbell Choir along with the Violcello String Ensemble. The kids will enjoy the Christian Clowns and Malu Luani Polynesian Dancers. A live nativity with its own petting zoo will be on hand to help bring the Christmas story to life. The State police will be on hand to provide the I.D. Me Program followed by the ever popular face paintings that have come to be one of the favorite activities of the event. The kids will enjoy winning prizes at the carnival games and enjoying foods of all kind. It’s an event you won’t want to miss.

Zion Bllue Mountain U.C.C. nativity. A live nativity scene will be presented on Dec. 6 at 6 p.m. The portrayal of the birth of Jesus will utilize music narration and real animals. The infant Jesus will be portrayed by Jonas Hartman, son of Mr. and Mrs. Hartman. Mary and Joseph will be portrayed by Joan and Russell Hartman, Jonas’ grandparents. The wisemen, shepherds and the angels will be played b y members of the congregation.
