TRADITIONAL CHRISTMAS PUTZat The Lutheran Home at Topton. open to the public for tours1 to 4 p.m. Dec. 14, 15, 21, 22, 28, and 29. No pre-registration is required. Larger groups can tour the display by contacting Karen Sinkovits at 610-682-1425.A traditional miniature display that covers 560 square feet, the Putz is a collection of antique holiday displays, including working trains. Mrs. Ida Henry, matron of The Lutheran Home at Topton during its years as an orphanage, assembled the Putz between the years of 1909 and 1945. Among the 17 scenes are the story of the Holy birth, a replica of Radio City Music Hall complete with an organ and an orchestra in the pit, a circus, Toonerville trolley, and a large church complete with tiny hymnals, baptismal fonts, and a pipe organ. The Putz is located in the Old Main building on the Topton campus, 1 S. Home Ave.The name comes from the German verb “putzen,” which means to brighten or display.

Kutztown Area Historical Society Model Railroad Open House

Dec. 13

The Brandywine Heights High School Music Department presents the annual Festival of Carols concerts featuring the High School Band and Concert Choir at Brandywine Heights Area High School. The Friday, Dec. 13 performance at 2:30 p.m. is for senior citizens and Brandywine Heights staff, tickets not required, and admission is free. Refreshments follow in the High School cafeteria. The Saturday, Dec. 14 concert is for the general public, and also begins at 2:30 p.m. All tickets are reserved seat and can be pre-purchased starting Dec. 3. Tickets may be purchased day of concert. AN EVENING OF CHRISTMAS MUSIC with the Reading Philharmonic Orchestra, 7 p.m. at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, 117 E. Arch St., Fleetwood. Light refreshments will be served after the concert.

CANTATA“THE LIVING LIGHT,” which is a dramatic musical presentation of the Christmas story seen through the eyes of those who witnessed the first Christmas, will be performed at Trinity Lutheran Church in Topton at 7 p.m.

Kutztown American Legion Post 480 Annual meeting, 1:30 p.m. Kutztown Community Library, 70 Bieber Alley, Kutztown. Special Speaker: Thomas Rutter, Veteran’s Advocate Accredited by the Veteran’s Administration; Topic: “The Little Known Benefit for Wartime Veterans”. There is a little known benefit for wartime veterans called the Improved Pension. This program is designed to help wartime veterans or the widow(er)s. There are many moving parts to this program and how to start receiving the payments from the VA. Thomas Rutter of Retirement Solutions is Accredited directly by The Veterans Administration as an Accredited Claims Agent. He will explain the ins and outs of this program and when it makes sense to file a claim for the benefit as well as how it can help offset the cost for your care or your loved one.

Fleetwood Historical Society OPEN HOUSE. 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. We will be displaying Lester Hoch’s Farm Diorama , in addition to members art work, crafts, and hobbies and more than 9,000 artifacts of the Fleetwood area, the 1918 Metal Body Co. fire photos, and “When the Little Mack was the NEW Mack”. All welcome.

KUTZTOWN COMMUNITY CHOIR CHRISTMAS CONCERT. 3 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church, 357 W. Main St., Kutztown. The concert will include a wide variety of holiday music. Admission is open to the public.
