Back by popular demand, this Saturday evening, July 26 from 7 to 9 p.m., the Borough of Kutztown’s ‘2014 Concert Series in the Park’ continues with the return of Ben Mauger’s Roaring 20’S Dixieland Jazz Orchestra.
The band was a huge success in the past two years and is back by popular demand.
The group, under the direction of Ben Mauger, is a 10 piece orchestra that plays the hot dance music of the 1920s and ’30s era, and the Swing New York City style revival Jazz made famous in the ’50s and ’60s.
This HOT JAZZ music of that era was made famous by many bands and soloists throughout jazz clubs across America. They will delight the audience with the upbeat hot music such as ‘The Charleston’, ‘Varsity Drag’, ‘I’ll see You In My Dreams’, ‘Happy Feet’, ‘Doin’ the Uptown Lowdown’, and many more.
They will also perform many of the most popular Dixieland songs like with that recognizable Dixieland sound and beat. Such songs as ‘Basin Street Blues’, ‘Sweet Georgia Brown’, ‘Darktown Strutter’s Ball’, are all among their repertoire.
The band is comprised of three saxophones, two cornets, a trombone, a piano, a guitar/banjo, a tuba and drums. Ben Mauger, who is the band leader and lead cornet, has been leading Dixieland Jazz bands and has performed all over the east coast for more than 28 years.
The band, formed in 2010 hails from the Harrisburg area, and includes musicians throughout central and eastern Pennsylvania. They have become very popular as they bring this style of Dixieland music to central and eastern Pennsylvania and all along the east coast.
