Three bands are coming together in Upper Pottsgrove for a night set to echo a city-like experience.

This Saturday, local band BlackRue will be performing with Philadelphia based rock bands Soraia and John Faye at Fujiyama’s Sunset Lounge.

BlackRue features Boyertown residents Buck Reed as songwriter and singer, Brianna Sig on drums and vocals, Matt Stabley on bass and Blaine Alderfer of Sumneytown on guitar.

Three of the four BlackRue members–Reed, Sig and Stabley-are graduates of Boyertown Area School District. They describe their music as “American Rock Alt Country with a twinge of Punk attitude.”

“Ted The Fiddler” of Spring City will be joining BlackRue on Saturday night.

The band Soraia places themselves in the “Garage Rock, Rock, Soul” genre and has been featured on Steven Van Zandt’s “Little Steven’s Underground Garage” radio show. John Faye, of The Caulfields, Ike and John and Brittany, will be performing solo acoustic.

“We’ve seen both of these bands personally; you’re going to really like them,” said Reed.

“Everybody and anybody should come out to the show. It will be a great event.”

Reed noted that the band isn’t necessarily promoting itself as much as it’s promoting the idea of hometown entertainment.

“We’re meeting fantastic musicians and trying to bring them back to her hometown,” said Reed.

He explained how BlackRue has travelled to New York City, Philadelphia, Wilmington and Allentown while networking along the way. “We want to meet the movers and shakers and bring them back our way.”

He spoke about how BlackRue is now in the position to act on this “bring them back our way” concept-a concept which has been long in the making. The band members are hoping to make it a regular thing.

For anyone interested in music, Reed says, “Go out and participate in the music industry, you never know who you’ll meet,” said Reed.

“We are changing the stage for a ‘Rock hall’ feel,” said Reed, in reference to prepping the venue for the event, “…subtle differences can make the difference.”

“We have a great area here,” said Reed, noting how not everyone can “pack up” and go elsewhere to see a show. “It’s a win-win win situation for everyone. This is a different show than what Boyertown is used to.”

Doors open at 7 p.m., the show starts at 8 p.m. The venue is located at 1495 Farmington Ave, Upper Pottsgrove, PA 19464. For online tickets visit http://blackruepresents.brownpapertickets.com/.
