The Kutztown University music department hosted the Inaugural High School Choral Festival, on Oct. 16 at the Schaeffer Auditorium. This year one of the six choral ensembles that attended this event was the selected choir (also originally known as the Chamber Singers) from Hamburg Area High School. The selected choir consists of talented students grades 9 through 12.

Chamber Singers will be renamed Aerial Boundaries. “We have a hawk as our mascot and something about flying high is quite appropriate for our top singing group!” said Dr. Ryan, the music director for the high school. Aerial Boundaries is an auditioned group who participates in many outside events as the face of the music program at Hamburg Area High School

The Inaugural High School Choral Festival is a great experience for Aerial Boundaries. They got to hear other high school groups to see how they “fit in” with kids their own age. Besides Hamburg, other schools that participated were the Muhlenberg High School Concert Chorus, Nazareth Area High School Chorale, Whitehall High School Chorale, and the Williams Valley Senior High Choir. With the help of Dr. Hank Alviani, Kutztown University’s director of choral activates, Aerial Boundaries improved their choral sound. Dr. Ryan was very pleased with how their jazz piece went and “with the tips from Dr. Alviani, our Nativity Carol will be even better!” This is looking like a great year for Aerial Boundaries.
