A shadow flew around Kutztown’s Clock Tower this past weekend.

A little orb of green light danced all around the stage curtains as they opened to Rhythm In Motion Dance Company’s presentation of Peter Pan Ballet Dec. 6 and then again Dec. 7 at Kutztown Middle School.

Kelly Corman, owner and director, said they like to perform the classic fairy tale ballets and have performed Cinderella and Snow White and wanted to try Peter Pan. Corman said they look for great technical ability in their lead dancers as well as stage presence, the ability to deliver a powerful performance and maintain their character.

“Ballets are completely presented to the audience with no verbal dialogue. The performance is entirely expressed through dance. Body presentation and expression are extremely important in conveying the show,” said Corman prior to the show.

During an intermission, a couple of kids with rolled up papers in their hands did an imaginary sword fight. Other children dashed and danced across the front of the stage imitating the graceful leaps of the ballerinas. After the performance, fans met with Peter Pan, Hook, and other cast members for a treat of juice and cookies. Wendy, mermaids, Indians, and more yet were on stage for photo opportunities.

“Interacting with everyone was definitely my favorite part because everyone was in their character and just watching it was so fun,” said Peter Pan, Nicole Gagliardi, 15, Breinigsville.

“The cast was very strong and I think we pulled off an amazing show,” said Captain Hook, McKenzie Sheetz, 16, Kutztown.

“It just all kind of comes together and it feels like it’s paid off for all the practicing that I’ve done,” said mermaid, Julia Perella, 9.

John Perella, Pop-pop, said both of his granddaughters had pointed to Tiger Lilly when she came on stage and both said, “Tiger Lilly.”

Lost boy, Madison Held, 12, said she had a lot of fun and that it was a great experience.
