Fleetwood Community Theatre is staging the play version of “A Few Good Men.” It is the script by Aaron Sorkin that went on to be the 1992 blockbuster, which starred Tom Cruise, Jack Nicholson, and Demi Moore.

Back in 1986, two young Marines, PCF Downey and Lance Corporal Dawson, were following an order to discipline a fellow platoon member, PFC Santiago, with a “Code Red.” Something went wrong and Santiago died of acute acidosis.

Enter Joanne Galloway, the Lieutenant Commander from Navy Internal Affairs who wants to see that the two marines are cleared of the murder charges they are facing. Unfortunately, her career as a lawyer has been short and so far not successful. She is not chosen to represent Dawson and Downey, but Lieutenant Daniel Kaffee has been. Kaffee is a successful lawyer when it comes to plea bargains, but has zero trial experience. As the evidence is uncovered, there is a moral dilemma. Did these boys commit murder by following an order? Are they really the ones to blame for Santiago’s death, or does that responsibility fall to the Guantanamo Base Commander, Colonel Nathan Jessup? The only one who could answer the question, Capitan Matthew Markinson, commits suicide before they can even ask him to testify.
