Spring signals the beginning of many things, ticks, hayfever, a zillion different flowers and winter clothes sales at many department stores. But, for the folks in Boyertown, it is also a call for singers young and old to tune up their pipes and take to the streets for the annual Boyertown Idol competition!
Karaoke Guru Adam Moyer and the Berks-Mont Business Association have spent the fall and winter months planning this year’s event – and now they are ready to rock and roll.
Rumors in the ‘Karaoke world’ say that some contestants have used the off seasons wisely and are putting the final touches on their stage performance and presence in hopes of walking away with the $500 prize, while others have been secretly practicing waiting to pounce, unexpectedly on the competition. For those of you who are hearing about this for the first time, DON’T PANIC! There is still plenty of time for you to pick out a song from the 675 page catalog of songs, read up on the rules at www.boyertowenidol.com and stake out one, some or all of the 4 tryout dates. Please be sure to read the details of the tryout outdates because there is one that is ONLY open to contestants 21 YEARS OF AGE OR OLDER.
The competition finals will again be held at the end of the BMBA Sidewalk Expo on East Philadelphia Ave and the prize money is donated by many of the great BMBA sponsors.
Contestants and spectators are welcome at all events. Networking and making friends is highly encouraged to help grow Boyertown Idol as the great community event it has become.
Here is the list of tryout locations and times:
-Tuesday, May 12, at The Boyertown Ritas, 6:30 p.m. This tryout is open to ALL contestants 15 years and older. This event will be held outdoors and will be held “Weather Permitting.”
-Thursday, May 28, at The Fun Days Festival in Boyertown Park, 6:30 p.m. Tryouts will be held in the Rohrbach Pavilion and is open to contestants of ALL ages 15 years of age and older.
-Saturday, May 30, at Durango’s Saloon 10 p.m. *This tryout is open only to contestants 21 years of age and older.
-Sunday, May 31, at The Other Farm Brewing Co, 2 p.m. This tryout is open to ALL contestants 15 years and older.
The Finals will be held at the end of The 2015 Sidewalk Expo on Tuesday, June 16, starting at 5 p.m.
