The some things looming Fiber Arts Gallery and Studio (www.somethingslooming.com), 526 Washington Street, Reading, will hold its Handmade Holidays 6 from Sat., Nov. 28 through Weds., Dec. 23.
Visitors will be able to choose from a variety of original, one-of-a-kind Holiday gifts made from fiber, metal, wood, ceramics, glass and many other craft media. Virtually all are priced at less than $300.
Entries for the show are now being accepted and must be submitted and postmarked by Sept. 26.
Rebekah Ritter, gallery business director and owner, said this year some things looming’s entire 500 sq. ft. exhibit area will be devoted exclusively to Handmade Holidays 6. “This is a very popular event in Southeastern Pennsylvania and we have had hundreds of visitors over the last five years. Our beautiful space is located just a few blocks from the GoggleWorks in the heart of the city. Parking is easily accessible.”
Melanie Ritter-Mitchell, gallery director, said all work for Handmade Holidays 6 must be unique and created by the artist submitting it. A minimum of six representative images of the work must be included; juried members of the Pennsylvania Guild of Craftsmen need submit only three images. Guild membership is not mandatory to enter. The six images should be sent to submissions@somethingslooming.com .
Mitchell said the entry fee is $30. Artists whose work is chosen will be notified on or before Oct. 10, 2015. Work can be dropped off between Oct. 20 and 23, or Oct. 27 and 31.
“Selected artists may submit up to 12 items that should be priced under $300,” said Mitchell. “All work will be displayed to its best advantage.”
Handmade Holidays 6 will have extended weekday hours – Tues. to Sat. from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. – or by appointment. It is closed Sun., Mon. and holidays. The gallery will not be open from Dec. 24 to Jan. 4, 2016. Exchanges can be made he week of Jan. 6.
