Families are invited to Weaver’s Orchard in the rolling hills of Berks County for wholesome, kid-centered fun in the great outdoors as the orchard starts its fall festivals, which run every Saturday, Sept. 12 through Oct. 31 and Columbus Day Monday.
The fun starts Sept. 12, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., with Johnny Appleseed Day, an event featuring hayrides, pick-your-own apples, storytelling, a farmyard play area and farm animals and, on Sept. 12, admission is free!
The festivities continue with Fall Family Fun Days on Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Columbus Day Monday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Activities for the whole family include hayrides, pick-your-own apples and pumpkins, live music, an apple cannon, many children’s activities in the play area, pumpkin painting, face painting, obstacle courses, a barrel train, fresh-pressed apple cider and cider donuts, caramel apples and other great homemade festival foods.
Saturday, Oct. 31 will be the grand finale, full of good, clean Halloween family fun before the kids go out trick-or-treating. Kids and even babies can win prizes every hour for best costume, and the event will feature a giant candy scramble.
“We are looking forward to a beautiful fall at the orchard,” says Ed Weaver, Weaver’s Orchard president. “And even more than enjoying it ourselves, we love having others come and experience the joy of picking their own fruit and spending time out in nature. It’s a good time for families to bond.”
Weaver’s Orchard invites customers to take advantage of the other attractions at the orchard, such as enjoying hand-dipped Nelson’s Dutch Farm ice cream on the Orchard View deck and espresso beverages at Kim’s Cafe, and stocking up on farm-fresh produce, locally sourced natural meat, dairy items and much more.
Families and individuals who photograph their orchard fun are invited to submit photos to Weaver’s annual photo contest for a chance to win a $50 Weaver’s Orchard gift card! More information and an official entry form are available on the orchard’s web site.
