The Children’s Theatre of Albright will present “Make a Play – If You Give a Pig a Party,” on Saturday, Sept. 12, and Sunday, Sept. 13, at 1 p.m., in the College’s Roop Hall.

Albright students will present an interactive storytelling experience based on the Laura Numeroff children’s book If you Give a Pig a Party. Audience members will help create puppets, decorate the party and participate in the actual performance.

The Children’s Theatre “Make a Play” initiative invites young audience members to take to the stage to help bring classic stories and fairytales to life.

“We really want this to be an interactive experience where kids get a chance to get their hands dirty and experience the fun of putting together a performance,” said assistant theatre professor Matt Fotis, Ph.D.

Directed by Albright junior Rachel Spause, If you Give a Pig a Party is free and open to the public.

Founded in spring 2014, the Children’s Theatre of Albright, backed by the College’s Domino Players and the Albright College Thespian Society, aims to produce quality theatre for young audiences in Berks County, and to give Albright students hands-on experience producing shows.

Published in 2005, If you Give a Pig a Party is part of author Numeroff’s If you Give… series of children’s books, which began with If you Give a Mouse a Cookie (1985). The stories, told in a circular format, present readers with a series of “if-then” events, and ultimately the characters end up where they began.

Roop Hall is located in the Center for the Arts on the Albright campus at 13th and Bern streets, Reading. For more information, please call 610-921-7715, or visit <www.albright.edu/centerforthearts>.
