Flying Colors, a group of 19 professional artists, will host its Annual Art Show on Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 17 and 18, at Montgomery School’s Bell Hall, 1141 Kimberton Road (Route 113), Chester Springs. The group will showcase newly created framed original works by member artists as well as unframed originals and signed prints. The show is open to the public free of charge on Saturday, Oct. 17, 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. and on Sunday, Oct. 18, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. In addition to the artwork, the show will feature live demonstrations by exhibiting artists. An activities table for children will enable parents to peruse the art at a leisurely pace.

An artists reception will be held on Saturday evening, Oct. 17, from 6 to 9 p.m. Attendees are invited to meet and talk with the artists, enjoy hors d’oeuvres and beverages and listen to live music.

Donations will be accepted during the show in support of former member Whitney Denman who has ALS. Each year, Flying Colors donates proceeds of the art show in the form of donations and the sale of specified work donated by the artists to a non-profit organization. Over the last 18 years, more than $20,000 has been donated to the Pennsylvania Breast Cancer Coalition and the Domestic Violence Center of Chester County. This year, the group will focus close to home on the needs of Whitney Denman as she faces ALS. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Flying Colors members gather weekly from September to May in Glenmoore to paint and exchange ideas. An atmosphere of mutual support and friendship provides inspiration for the many works of art shown in the annual show. Additionally, guest artists visit occasionally to demonstrate new techniques as well as traditional approaches to art.
