Dancing Tree Creations Artisans Gallery and Studio will kick-off their Fall Events by inviting the public to meet their next featured Budding Artist, Tori Burks, by joining them, along with many other local artists, for light refreshments on Thursday, Oct. 1, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.

The Budding Artist Program provides young, school age, artists, an opportunity to join over 200 local and national artisans in exhibiting and selling their crafts for a three-month period of time, free of charge.

Burks, a senior at Boyertown Area High School, is the Gallery’s eighth Budding Artist and her work will be available from October through December.

Burks has always enjoyed creating art, starting as far back as elementary school when she would come home and create what would eventually become a grey blob of paint, but she did it every day. As a child she enjoyed painting, but as she grew and started taking art classes, she realized drawing was a greater strength. This then evolved into using colored pencils, which was enjoyed even more as she discovered the ease of blending. She loves to put incorporate many shades and strange colors together to make a picture as interesting as possible, Charcoal also became a favorite after having to use it to do a school project. She loves the messiness of it the ease in which it flows onto paper and the ability to remove it just as quickly. Her current focus, however is photography.

Burks plans on going to college and enhancing her photographic abilities. She originally wanted to be a fashion photographer because she loves how crazy it can get with the insane makeup and outfits, but she now feels she can do so much more with it. She aspires to travel the world, live with different native people and animals and document it all through photos, bringing awareness to poachers and animal abuse around the world.

She finds inspiration in a wide range of individuals from Tyra Banks to Banksy, a famous street artist who has managed to remain completely unknown, even though his fame continues to rise. His artwork always has a meaning and attacks social issues, yet he remains anonymous, proving he truly cares about the social issues that he fights.

Another street artist who goes by the name Swoon, is also of great influence. A few commonalities that Burks has with Swoon is that they both enjoy connecting with people and care deeply about the environment. Burks admires Swoons capability to use her creativity to build shelters in Haiti and how she and her team once built working boats completely out of recycled objects and sailed the oceans.

Dancing Tree Creations hopes you’ll be able to join them to show your encouragement to another young talented student and learn more about her interesting
